Live Sports Artwork for a Brooks Running Promotional Event
I was commissioned by Brooks Running UK to create a live painting for a promotional running event in Stratford, East London, celebrating the energy and excitement of the running community.
The brief was to paint British middle-distance runner Josh Kerr, bringing his image to life on canvas while the event unfolded around me. Working on-site in front of an audience of runners, fans and event visitors, I created a large-scale portrait inspired by the athlete, his sporting achievements and the identity of the Brooks brand.
Live Portrait Painting in a Brand Activation
The painting combined detailed figurative work with bold colours and graphic elements reflecting Brooks Running's visual identity. The portrait was developed live, allowing visitors to watch the artwork take shape and see the process behind creating a realistic sports portrait.
Live painting adds a distinctive dimension to promotional events. Rather than simply displaying finished artwork, it creates a shared experience, encouraging people to stop, watch and engage with the brand in a memorable way. For a running event, painting an athlete in real time offered a visual connection between sport, creativity and the community gathered around the activation.
